They are not in any real order with the exception of my #1 pick Mashable. You’ll want to visit this baby weekly for great tips, marketing strategies, new tools, etc…so let’s begin.

1. Mashable.com – Mashable is the world’s largest site dedicated to Web 2.0 and Social Media news. It has more than 12.million page views every month. You will find it to be one of the best blogs for critiquing new sites and online services.  They are the CNN of the Web 2.0 world.  You will great tool reviews for all your social networking.

2. SocialMediaToday.com – Social Media Today has some of the best social media and web 2.0 thinkers, brainy-acts on the planet. You will learn how to create an interactive social community.  Once registered, you can feed your existing blog posts to the content flow of Social Media Today and create posts directly on the site.  That’s pretty slick.

3. DoshDosh.com – This is not your typical social media blog.  You will find it to be a fantastic resource for cutting edge online marketing and blogging tips. In addition, you will find some of the best Web 2.0 and social media strategies.

4. BrianSolis.com You will find that Brian brings a unique perspective as he looks at how traditional marketing and Social Media link up to create one powerful marketing machine when done right.  This blog is among the top 1.5% of all blogs tracked by Technorati—this means it rocks!

5. ScottMonty.com – Scott shares his perspectives on social media – the convergence of marketing, advertising and PR on the Web – for marketers, agencies, the enterprise and the individual.  He is the Big Dog at Ford Motor Company for Social Media. Remember, it’s important for you to expand your sources; giving you the edge to connect with more people.

6. Techipedia.com – Tamar Weinberg is an amazing resource. Her last post was on “How to Create the Perfect Fan Page.” Do you think you could benefit from that?   She is freelance writer and author of The New Community Rules: Marketing on the Social Web, who specializes in social media consulting and strategy, blogger outreach, reputation management, and search engine marketing (SEO, link building, and Pay Per Click Marketing).  Any interest in that?

7. AllFacebook.com – This blog is all about facebook.  It is all over it. You will learn about new applications, general news, and analysis about the future of Facebook. It is an exciting time in the world of social media and social networking and these guys cover all of it in relation to Facebook.

8. Twitip.com – This is about… You guessed it…all about Twitter. It covers Twitter Tips of all varieties including getting the right followers and how to make the your real friends.  You’ll also learn about things like Branding, Twitter tools and a lot more.

9. CollectiveThoughts.com – This is a great Mastermind community for Social Media.  Each member of Collective Thoughts are a known or rising star in their own field, but they also have a passion and unique understanding on social media. Together, they make up Collective Thoughts.

10. The Viral Garden – Mack is a social media guru. He will teach you about the latest tools and trends to enhance your productivity and profitability.   He has some very cool info on his site.

*Twitter Feed
“Twitter Feed” is a simple module for Twitter. Twitter Feed displays a configurable number of updates or tweets. Therefore, you can control the updates you want to post to your website and decide which tweets you want to post to your blog. This is great because you may not want to post all of the updates. You can filter tweets depending on your choice. If you want to filter hashtags or show only tweets with links in them, you can do that with no problem using Twitter Feed.

*Twitter Badge
“Twitter Badge” refers to the official Javascript codes that display badges of Twitter. It shows what you are posting on Twitter. This can be a good tool for your WordPress blog. It will help your readers to find out that you are posting on Twitter.

*Twimbler
“Twimbler” is a tumble blog that can be combined with Twitter. This tool can help you to create a tumble blog. This blog can be updated through Twitter. So whenever you want to update your blog, you just need to send updates through Twitter and it will be updated. This is a good way to create a blog and, thereby, create traffic sources for your business and websites.

*Tweetwire
“Tweetwire” is another Twitter tool that does something different. It actually reformats Tweets in a newspaper format. As a result, this can be more suitable for people who do work in the newspaper industry or for bloggers who want a specific newspaper-like feel for their Twitter account.

“Tweetback” is an interesting tool for you to use on Twitter. If you know about pingback in WordPress, then this will be simple to understand. This is like a pingback for Twitter. This service pingbacks to any blog posting with the direct tweet url. It’s a good tool for creating links back to any blog post.

The Twitter background: To snaz or not to snaz that is the question. I really have no definitive answer to that question. But it seems that if you are trying to make a name for yourself anything will help and it can’t hurt to pimp out your Twitter background to see if you can’t stand out from the rest maybe even create a little controversy. If you already are famous as heck, like Demi Moore, I guess you don’t have to do squat to your account to attract huge followings of Twitter faithful who will hang on your every word.

That said I thought I would spot light a few Twitter backgrounds and give you some background on the backgrounds if that makes any sense at all.

Since we mentioned Demi Moore already I will just start with her background. Of course if you are a Gen Xer you remember Demi as the hot starlet with the husky voice from St. Elmos Fire or perhaps her early marriage to Bruce Willis or the too numerous to mention movies she has starred in and now are just starting to believe she is some sort of vampire, because frankly gravity is not doing things to her body that it is to the rest of us. If you are younger than a Gen Xer you just may think she is some pretty young woman you’d like to hangout with. Whatever you think of Demi… her Twitter following has erupted to over half of million while probably her Twitter background is one of the most plain and unpretentious on the site. Her back ground or the lack of it can be seen at http://twitter.com/mrskutcher

Now to cover the other end of the spectrum I think absolute craziest Twitter background title belongs to Mr. Michael Ian Black in which has a depiction of him hiding behind Dr. Pepper cans evidently naked and apparently strangling a unicorn while Demi Moore is looking on.

This background seems to be helping him gain followers because he also has over a quarter of a million followers, even though he is not famous. He does claim to be a famous comedian but his claim to fame is from an obscure show on MTV which no one watched since MTV has stopped playing video and started ripping off Mexican TV game shows. To contrast the art work of the Mr. Blacks Twitter background I would like to leave you with the classic black background. The sort of Ralf Lorene style background which no one can comment on or condemn, because it is so simple and classically black. This is the little black dress of Twitter websites and like the dress it is perfect for every occasion. In the Twitter world a classic black background goes with whatever you have to say. The classic black background goes well with political statements, just day to day banter, celebrity gossip even if you don’t have anything to say. Like in the case of The Mime who has not only gained over 8,000 followers without being famous he has also gained all of those followers without ever tweeting a single word. That’s right since becoming a member The Mime has amassed a loyal following thru his classic black background and his uncanny ability to keep us spellbound by his “…” tweets.
