If you are in an MLM, Network Marketing or a Direct Sales company then today’s topic is for you.  It is for those of you who attend networking groups on a regular basis.

You know the kind I’m talking about, BNI group (Business Network International), Lead Exchange Groups or even Chamber meetings.  These same principles apply to building your business online especially if you are doing video marketing. What you are going to learn is…

How to Introduce Yourself

What typically happens at these networking events?

Everyone sits around a table, the chairperson says this is how to introduce yourself, say your name, company name and what you do.

It starts like this…

“Hi my name is Joe Smith I own Joe Smith cleaning company. For 13 years we have been cleaning home and offices in the area. We pride ourselves (he says this with zero enthusiasm) in using no chemicals and we come to your house rain or shine.”

The next person, sitting down says, “My name is Phyllis Brown, and I work with the Fat Loss Juice.” (At this point, you see people playing with their blackberries and iPhones not paying any attention to her). She continues by saying, “Fat Loss Juice has been in business for 35 years and we help people with our yummy juices, shakes and cookies. A good referral for me is someone who wants to lose weight.”

The next person starts with “My name is Tom Deck, and I work with …” at this point you are totally bored out of your mind!

This goes on for 20 people…and no one is paying attention! Because no one knows how to introduce yourself.

What’s the problem here? 

You have seen this when people market online too.  They get one of these training system and self replicated websites that they have seen many times there is nothing new!

EVERYONE IS SOUNDS THE SAME!

You need to understand that sameness will kill you.

Learn how to introduce yourself in a creative and memorable way.

You want to stand out don’t you?

In fact you want to be always remembered as that creative guy or gal.

How do you do that?

You do what everyone is not doing.

Let’s look back at what people were doing in our scenario…they were told this is how to introduce yourself (in the wrong way, don’t be a sheep and flow the herd..lol), they were all sitting down, they all used the same basic script or formula, it is the one they use every week, week after week hoping to burn it into people’s mind. As soon as the person before them finishes they jump in. And worst of all they lack enthusiasm.

I’m sure all of these people are great people they just lack any creative communication skills.

How do you set yourself apart?

Since everyone sits, you stand up.

Everyone begins with his or her name and business, you end with your name and business.

Most people are dull, be interesting.

Now you area asking me, “Well Terry how in the world do I do that?”

This is where the magic is…

When it is your turn, you stand, you pause to create silence and scan the group, this gets attention then you tell a short story and end with your name and a benefit of your biggest benefit of your product/service. 

This is how to introduce yourself…it flat out works!

Let me give you a couple of examples…

Let’s go back to Phyllis the Fat Loss Juice lady.

It is her turn, she stands up, pauses and scans the room “It was 8am on July 3^rd 2010, I was packing for a trip to the beach. I tried my bathing suit on from last year, (she pauses and looks down) to my surprise I could barely get into it to. It was not pretty. From that day forward I vowed that I would get back to a size 2. I did it.  My name is Phyllis Brown, and help people look, trim and sexy by shedding their fat.”

Now you might be saying but wait she did not mention the company name or the products!  Well the truth is people don’t care about that they care about what those things can do for them.

Here’s another example, this one is focus on collecting silver coins. Remember you stand up pause and scan then say something like this…

“The year is 1966.  In 1966 you could have purchased a drop dead gorgeous candy apple red mustang for $2500 paper dollars or 2500 silver dollars. But the year is 2012. 2500 paper dollars can buy you what? A nice set of tires? Perhaps a down payment?  (you let out a disgusting laugh and shake your head left to right) Those same 2500 “silver dollars” could get you 3 loaded Mustangs plus a luxury cruise around the world! My name is Terry Petrovick and I show people how to create, collect and preserve their wealth with silver and gold coins.”

Can you see how attention getting that is?

Remember when it comes to how to introduce yourself, do it in a memorable way .  You do this by telling a story to get into people’s emotions and imaginations and be sure to end with the biggest benefit of your product or service.

And if you go to the same groups every week change up your stories.  Believe me you will set yourself a part and you will getting more leads and having more quality conversations than ever before.

When you learn how to introduce yourself in a memorable way, people will consistently ask you for your business card because you have want they want!

7 Minutes to a Remarkable Life?

Could it really be possible to create a remarkable life 7 minutes at a time?

The answer is yes!

As we wrap up 2011 and reflect what we have accomplished or perhaps a better question is what have we not accomplished but intended to accomplish?

We really need to stop and evaluate where we are spending our time and is that investment in time fulfilling us and taking us closer to creating the remarkable we truly desire?

Answering “Yes” is what will make you happy.

A couple of weeks ago I received my executive book summary of  “The 7 Minute Solution” where Darren Hardy reviews the top business books.

I was very intrigued.

I immediately went to amazon.com and purchased the book.

By the way this was just released December 27, 2011.

Here’s what I discovered…

This is the perfect book for any one who wants to be fulfilled with their life.

I discovered that this book while in not tactical for building a network marketing organization or home business has everything to do with building a loyal team.

As a leader, I feel it is our job to lead people and to assist people to create a remarkable life…whatever that means to the individual.

Here are a few key questions that really caught my attention. I have added some comments to tie them into our business.

1) Are you really aware of what you want from your life (or business)?
Life will give you exactly what you demand, but first you must clarify your ideas in writing and create an action plan.

2) Are you motivated?
Know the force that pushes you to stretch yourself for your goals. Create 90-day goals and then break down into mini goals and you will experience the thrill of success more often.

3) Are you growing and Learning?
Your brain has incredible potential but is functions on a use it or lose it basis. Growth is critical because it ignites your enthusiasm for letting go of old habits. (Hmmm am I talking to you now?)

4) Are you engaged?
Are you focused on your highest pay off activities (prospecting, presenting, following up and enrolling) or are you getting distracted?

5) Are you persevering?
Making significant changes requires perseverance. Why? Bad habits are hard to break. Sometimes by shifting our language or how we spend our time and who we spend our time with can yield massive breakthroughs.

6) Are you using your talents?
When you focus on your strengths, for example building relationships as opposed to trying to learn all the online marketing strategies you will build your team faster and become profitable more quickly.

7) Are you living with faith and belief?
Faith and belief compels you to look beyond yourself, to reach out to others and give of yourself.  Knowing that your business and products help others are key to you staying in the game and developing a business that will lead to a 6 or 7 figure income.

As you can see these questions really apply to everyone no matter what their profession.

At the end of the day, my belief is that we MUST be consciously aware of what we truly desire and focus all of our energy on accomplishing that.

3 Tactics For Getting You New Leads Every Day

Lead generation have been around forever… way before the Internet people relied on their hustle to find new prospects for their business.

What you are going to learn about today are 3 proven tactics for lead generation.

Get new leads every day!

I have a question for you…

Are you a hoper or a hustler?

In his book “Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion” Gary Vanderchuk talks about having hustle, busting your butt and pushing yourself to make it happen.

It is a great book that talks a lot about your self-discipline and commitment for success. I highly recommend it.

Tactic 1: Work Expos

In my past I have done all kinds of Expos and Trade Shows and you know what?

These are taking place all year long. Today you can find Christmas Shows, Women’s Shows then there are Home & Garden Shows and Spring Shows and don’t forget the Car Shows, Boat Shows and Fishing Shows and Guns Shows. I could go on but you get the point I’m sure.

I have worked these as an exhibitor and attendee. I stopped spending money on expensive booths and just focused on talking to the exhibitors.

Why?

The exhibitors are hungry and the attendees were typically just curious.

I don’t know about you but I’m looking for motivated people with ambition, not tire kickers who have an interest but no commitment.

Talk to everyone, set a goal to collect X business cards before you come home. This approach is easy to do and yes, easy not to do. I always carry a pad just in case people do not have business cards. You must be prepared.

Remember, you are a hustler right?

Tactic 2: Use Sizzle Cards

A sizzle card could be a business card, a post–it note or a drop card that has a compelling headline and a phone number to call on it. This approach does require a minimal investment.

An example headline is “Earn $250,000/year from home. Don’t believe it don’t call. 1-800-xxx-xxxx”.

A great place to direct all these leads is to a Google voice mail. (it’s free)

You can do a Google search to find out how to set one of these up.

When you follow up and call the prospect, remember you are the one interviewing them. Be sure they qualify for your time.

Tactic 3: Business Card Collecting

This is as easy as it sounds. Just go around your area and collect as many business cards as possible.

It is really easy to get 20+ of these per day.

You can find them on cork boards, in restaurants, counter tops, styling salons, barbershops, auto shops, and coffee shops.

The fact is anyone who puts his or her business card out is looking for more income!

These people are motivated you just have to find out if they are open to look at what you have to offer.

How to Talk to Leads?

I’ve done 2-hour workshops on this alone.

Here’s a successful dialog I use…
“Hi (their first name), I picked up your card today and I wanted to ask you a quick question, would that be ok? (I always like to ask for permission as opposed to just talking at them. They always say yes.) Are you open to a side project that doesn’t interfere with what you are currently doing? If you are interested I can get you some info, in not no big deal.”

It is simply a casual question…are you open?

Then you send them to a website or invite them to a meeting or whatever you would like for them to see.

All of these 3 approaches will work if you work them.

Consistency is key to your success. AND all or these require any technical or Internet skills.

They are simple and they are duplicable.

Remember do NOT be attached to the outcome of these conversations.

In today’s failing economy, many people are beginning to realize that they can’t count on the government or their 9 to 5 job any more for financial security.

The result is tens of thousands of people are getting involved in network marketing, MLM or direct sales.

But, once you are “in” how do you make a full time income?

The fact is most people fail because they do not treat it as a serious business. Their financial investment to get started is low and so is their commitment to succeed.

But, let’s say you are serious and you work hard, how do you make it?

I don’t care what business you are in, your income will be a reflection of the leaders you have in your business. This can be a scary thought but with time and dedicate you can solve it.

Start thinking leadership development!

Let go of how much income you want to make and shift that to how many leaders you will need to create it.  Then create your plan to develop your leaders.

It is important to know many people will express an interest; and a few will actually do what they say they are going to do.  This OK if you expect it.

What Defines an Business Leader?

1. They have a clear vision of what they intend to accomplish.
2. They have created a project and a specific plan for its attainment.
3. They are self-motivated by their vision and maintain their own enthusiasm, persistence, attitude, and most importantly, their actions.
4. They produce their intended results.

Until you have someone who meets these four criteria, you do not have a leader.

You may have a nice person who works hard and wants very much to be successful. You may even have someone who will do everything you ask.

However, until they consistently produce from their own motivation, they cannot be counted on for leadership.

Focus on developing yourself as a powerful leader, then and only then will you attract powerful leaders to your organization.

Developing a Loyal Leadership Team

The community that you develop from the leaders to the brand new person must have a long-term vision, they must expect that the business will not be perfect and people will second-guess them.  You must create a mindset of keeping the main thing the main thing.

Your team must focus on selling the product and sponsoring every month—no matter what. The key to accomplishing this lies with your leaders.

Leadership and relationships are the glue that holds the organization together.

So how do you earn and keep leader loyalty, and not die in the process?

Create a Compelling Image

Be sure that your image is benefit driven and has a very clear call to action!

As with all your MLM marketing, you must create a compelling offer.  Here’s an example, note the red marker arrow pointing to that call to action!

This a great example of an ad that pulls attention. Again, if you use Fivver.com send this image and tell them you want your company logo and a “call to action” like this.

Now, here’s another productivity trick.

There is a little piece of software that you can get for free that will save you a bunch of time!

Unfortunately, it only runs on the Windows operating system.

It is called Smart Typing Assistant. You can download it here.

By simply typing a few character it will insert a whole string of text, multiple sentences if you like.

Here is an example:

4 Causes of MLM Failure

If you are struggling in your business or you simply are not where you want to be, it is probably because of your thinking.

OUCH!

Like it or not, your life and business is a reflection of your decisions.

The good news/bad news about this business is it is very in your face when it comes to success.

Your income is a reflection of your contribution of your business and product movement to the market place.

All too often people live in their head; they focus on what is not working instead of focusing on what they can do to create the desired result.

They do not ask for help because their ego is getting in the way.

I know, I have been there too.

I’ve been in the MLM business now for 17 years. And during that time you can believe I’ve experienced my fair share of challenges.

I have found to overcome challenges it is best to look them square in the eye and face them head on.

Here are the 4 causes that if not managed properly will squelch our financial dreams or worse yet, kill them.

1)   lack of clearly defined goals

2)   an opportunity we are enrolled in but not passionately engaged in

3)   an overreaction to negative actions and opinions

4)   the inability to stay disciplined with the work required

No matter where you are, where you have been, what counts most is where you are going.

You must adopt an “It’s Now or Never” attitude and get rid of your ‘stinking thinking’ as Zig Zigler says.

Dealing with challenges

Every entrepreneur faces challenges.

Every job has its challenges.

I call this life.

It is not what happens to you, it is how you react or handle the challenges that count.  Here’s a great post on that topic. And trust me, the universe will test your conviction of your dreams and goals.

Everyone in MLM or network marketing experiences the frustrations of putting time into people who say they want success but simply do not follow through.

You know the reps who say they will come to a meeting or a conference call with prospects but don’t show up. Or the reps who say they will come to the convention up don’t show up.

Have you ever heard the expression ‘success is 90% showing up’?  Well in MLM or network marketing it is true.

Here’s Why

When you show up at events or on conference calls, you build up your belief little by little every time you hear about the success of others.

Consciously and subconsciously you say to yourself, if they can do it I can too.

Every event, every conference works to charge your believe battery.  And when your battery is fully charged, nothing can stop you.

The lesson that I have learned is to…

Listen to what people say then watch what they do.

Spend your time with people who deserve your time and not with the ones who need your time.

There is no need to get emotional about it, it is just the way it is.

Maturity in MLM, network marketing or any business in the world includes a great deal of tolerance for things that need to be improved, but must be endured until they are improved.

This includes you.

I invite you to learn to be patient with the process and to stay true to your dreams and desires.

If you are ever to reach your goal of financial freedom, you will need to first be realistic about your expectations of others.  Second, you will need to develop yourself emotionally and skillset wise to create the desired outcome.

Lastly, be sure that you are working with a coach weekly if not daily in the beginning or at least in times of struggle to help you stay focused on your highest pay off tasks.

If you don’t have one, hire one.  If you don’t have the money to hire one call your upline support team until you find one that will help you.  If you can’t find one in your current business, then join another business where you will have a great one.

You must start to take responsibility for your success.  No one else will.

Let me wrap this up by sharing what one of my coaches told me when I was stuck at $5,000/month and just could not break through.

She said, “Terry for things to change, you must change.  For things to get better, you must get better.”

We all have our own journey in developing our MLM business. Just don’t fall victim to the 4 causes of MLM Failure.

MLM Leads and Your Sales Funnel

If you are in MLM or network marketing and you want to develop an online business then you better develop your skills so you can create a variety of sales funnels.

It has been proven to be one of the best ways to get unique mlm leads for your business.

It is not as hard as you think it is and much of it can be outsourced if you like.  To learn more about outsourcing read this post on Why You Must Start Outsourcing Your Projects.

What you will see and learn below is that there are endless types of sales funnels to help you get quality prospects for you MLM business or any affiliate marketing that you are doing.

The perfect analogy is fishing.

You have to know what you are fishing for in order to know what bait to use. Use the wrong bait and the fish will never bite.

The same is true for only marketing.

Do not try to be everything to every body.

Know your prospect.

Speak to the pain, problems and wants of your ideal prospect.  Target your message and your conversion will be high.

Your sales funnel must capture the imagination of your mlm prospects.  Otherwise, your page will not convert.

This also means you should always be testing the conversion rates of your pages.

Testing is not the purpose of this post; just know that it is critically important to your overall success.

The Abundance, Prosperity and Gratitude Mindset

These life principles are foundational for a good life.

Yes, there are more but just for today let’s look at how you are applying these to your life.

I begin each day with Gratitude.  

I’m grateful for my health, my financial wealth, the relationships in my life, even the flowers I grow…everything I can think of.

This thinking helps me to get in a state of  prosperity that create an overall feeling of abundance. The result is…a feeling of life is good.

Not only am I grateful for all the good in my life, I am grateful for the challenges. I know they will help me to grow stronger and to become a better person.

I encourage you to try this for a week.  Be aware of the shifts that begin to take place in your life.  It’s pretty cool.

You Can’t Out Give the Universe.

One of the fundamental secrets of prosperity is giving.

From a business perspective, it is the basis of social media marketing.  But, it goes much deeper than that for your life.

I believe that everything in the universe is based on the principle of trading vale for value.  It is my opinion that it is an unbalanced scale. I have found that you send out comes back to you in multiples, many times ten fold.

This holds true for the money you tithe, the love you give, and the good you do.  What have you been giving lately?

Have you ever experienced giving with no expectations of receiving?

Try this…the first time I did this people were shocked. And I must admit I felt really good about helping some one out.

The next time you are in line at the grocery store and you see someone that is struggling to pay for their groceries or look like they are, ask them if you can pay for their groceries.  They will look at you like you are nuts and the cashier will too.

The truth is, it won’t cost you much and it will make you feel like a million bucks.

You will know you made a difference for that person on that day.

There are thousands of ways to make a difference. I don’t really care what they are just do it.

Wealth Creation

You may read about the occasional person who inherits wealth.  But true wealth…the kind that stay with you comes as a result of a very deliberate process.  It does not happen to you …you happen to it.

You become a wealthy person in your mind; then you manifest it on the physical plane by becoming the kind of person that attracts prosperity and abundance to you.

In network marketing we like to call this personal development.  It begins with you seeing yourself as a success already then acting and doing the things that successful people do.

From this day forward, make an effort to come from a place of abundance and prosperity.

Cultivate an attitude of gratitude and you will transform your life and the lives of people around you.

Take a moment right now and write down a list of 20 things that you are grateful for.

Remember, how you show up everyday will either attract people to you and your business or send them the other way.

You get to make the choices and to cultivate your mindset and come from a place of abundance and  prosperity everyday.

Most distributors come into the Network Marketing profession with energy, enthusiasm, and high hopes; some do great, while others leave the business disappointed and depressed.

It is very disheartening to see distributors leave the business.

Over the last 17 years, I have learned that working as a distributor is very different from a “normal” job. I have noticed that many of the distributors who leave the business share some “traits;” below I discuss those which are most prevalent and costly.?

1. No Structure and Lack of Discipline

If you had a conventional sales job paying you eight thousand dollars a year how much would be expected of you? What activities would your boss expect of you? Would you have to work 5 days a week, at least 8 hours a day? Would you have to come in on time? Would you need to know your product, the competition and what to say to get things sold?

Some distributors come into this business and forget that they have a “job.” Because they don’t have a “boss” telling them what to do and holding them accountable, they do not set a schedule and/or fail to stick to it. Successful distributors keep in mind that they are their own bosses, they set a schedule for themselves and abide by it, just as they would if they worked in a “conventional” job.

Successful distributors make sure that they know the presentation and can connect with a prospect’s wants/desires and know how to ‘ask for the order’ (enrollment).

They follow up with their leads and know their scripts, dialogues and how to handle objections. They understand the importance of using the team for 3 way calls.

Since you don’t have a “boss” other than yourself, you need to be disciplined and self motivated. You have to let others know that just because you don’t punch a time clock, you still need to be at work, you cannot always be available to pick up the dog food or take Aunt Sally to the doctor.

2. No Systems

Successful businesses have one thing in common, systems. Systems allow a person or a company to create predictable and “duplicatable” results, because distributors don’t have a boss who tells them what to do to earn money, they need to set up their own systems. Successful distributors have a structured outline of their day, week, month and year. The more detailed the plan the more effective and efficient they are.

Network marketing distributors must have or create systems for:

• Lead generation (online and offline)

• Lead Follow up

• Qualifying Prospects

• Presentations

• Tracking Numbers

• Practicing / Role-play

3. No Accountability

Without a traditional “boss” there is no one to hold you accountable; often times this causes distributors to be easily distracted, confused, unsure and uncertain about getting work done. Distributors need to stay focused on their goals and hold themselves accountable for working their schedule.

If you’ve committed to making X contacts during a prospecting session, hang in there, don’t stop at X-1, and remind yourself that quitting is not an option.

Many successful distributors “make bets” with themselves or other distributors to keep them on-track. Some write multiple checks to their least favorite cause, competitor, or rival political party, place them in a preaddressed and stamped envelope and send it out if they fail to complete what they set out to do.

4. No Ability to Anticipate the Prospect’s Condition

Wayne Gretsky was one of the greatest hockey players of all time. While everyone else skated toward the puck, Wayne separated himself the rest and skated toward where the puck was going to be next. Every prospect is unique and yet every prospect is pretty much the same. They are the same because they all face challenges of some kind. The successful distributors know how to ask questions and lead a prospect down the path of failure and regret if they do not change as well as well the path to abundance and prosperity when they get involved with you and your products and services.

The development of your listening skills and painting pictures of new possibilities gives you the confidence you need to enroll more distributors and create more products sales.

5. Not Being Honest with Themselves

Successful distributors are honest with themselves. If you only make a few calls during your prospecting hour or create only a few videos or write articles per week, but you tell your coach/yourself that you’ve done more, who are you really hurting? If you find yourself telling yourself what you want to hear, you can’t expect improvement. Remember, you are where you are because it is okay with you.

Final Thoughts

This market is difficult and competitive, in order to survive; you need to work harder than your competition. In order to do this, you need have structure and discipline, powerful systems in place, strong accountability, skills to know your prospect’s pain and to be honest with yourself.

Every distributor is capable of doing the work necessary to succeed; the ones who succeed work harder than those who fail.

Make the commitment to start working on it today, put it in your schedule for tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day…

Fact about building your network marketing business.

Whether you are building your business online or offline people are going to follow you (or hangout with you) because they think there is a payout for them.

While some people will follow you because they are noisy or curious about you, the vast majority of people are following you because they hope to get something out of you.

Are you entertaining? You are that wild and crazy person who is blast to hang with.  Can you say “PAARTAE?”

Are you are resource? Do you have mad skills at something like: marketing, playing poker, dancing, playing ball or making money?

I want you to stop… and think … just for a moment … what do you offer others?

How can you help other people?

How can you create a bigger following?

If you want to be a successful leader then you have to be aware of ‘who’ you are and who you attract.

You have to think about why someone would want to follow you.

Get on purpose and have a compelling vision.

Now let’s think about building your list or building a list of names for your business…

It doesn’t matter if we are talking about building a list online or offline.

Your influence, your wisdom, your character is going to attract people certain people.  People will naturally ask themselves, do you have something that they want or can you help them in a certain area of their life?

Again, think about…

…who are you attracting.

…who do you want to attract.

Are these the same group of people or different?  For many they are not.

The truth is you are NOT going to be attractive to everyone.

I see people all the time attempting to be everything to everybody.  They typically fail to achieve their goal of being a person of influence.

Right, or wrong, strong leader has clear opinions and views.

For me personally it is much more attractive and refreshing for people to be real.  I like to ‘get’ who they are.

Some people call it being authentic or call it being transparent; I call it being real and being true to you.

Most people are overly concerned about what other people think.

If that is you, get over it.

Write this down:  “What people think of you is none of your business.”

Gosh, if you could ‘get’ this you would be so much more attractive.  Not to everyone, just the right people.

And the benefit is you get to live a life of being true to you.  You will have more fun, more energy and your life will be amazing.

The benefit for them is they enjoy learning from you and being with you.

Now, that’s power.

That’s influence.

This is leadership.

Who is listening?

When you show up as someone who is true to your beliefs and you focus on helping others your list naturally grows.

Action Items: get clear on your mission and vision.  Know who you are and where you are going.  Be real. Let people know you are vulnerable. Heck we all are. Right?

One more thing… let go of your ego.

7 Facts of Networking Marketing Leadership

If you are a Networking Marketing leader or would like to be, you are an example of hope and possibility to many.  Leadership is influence.  Being a leader is never easy but it is incredibly rewarding. You have a responsibility to let people know what it takes to succeed in this profession.

The fact is Networking Marketing is hard work, as is all achievement!

If you want big results and hard work scares you the Networking Marketing profession is probably not for you.

All great achievement comes through learning the principles of delayed gratification for long-term results.

You must develop yourself, learn new skills, and surround yourself with people that help you become more.

In today’s society, many people become content with their way of life, they become lazy and take on a minimalist attitude. They do as little as possible to get by–this does not work in this profession.

Charles Sykes wrote several fantastic books including, A Nation of Victims and Dumbing Down our Kids. The gist of the books is captured in the titles.

When we lower the bar on people we do not create more champions, but more victims.

Business success weeds people out.

When it comes to learning how to build a successful business online. Some say it is too hard, I don’t know how, I tried that…it doesn’t work.

The fact is it does work.

It works incredibly well.

What people are really saying is they are not willing to learn the skills to make this happen.  Don’t let this me you.

I can tell you first hand, at age 53, I study more today than I did when I was in college. At times, it’s hard for me to grasp some of these tactics and strategies. But, I do it anyway.

Why?

I “get” the opportunity and the timing of this profession.

This is not the same profession that it was 20-30 years ago.  Online marketing and social media are the future of this profession.  They are the future of business.

The take home message is… work hard and be the example for others.  Leaders learn then do then teach.

7 Facts of Network Marketing Success

Fact 1: Life is not fair. Get used to it.

Life does not deal everyone the same hand. Some are born millionaires through their mommy’s and daddy’s efforts and some are born broke and must work their way to the top.  Some people can read material one time and they “get it”.  While others must read material over and over to understand it.

In network marketing you might get help from your upline, you may be in the hot spot for growth or you may have nothing but the opportunity and your dream.

No matter what, get over it and get moving.

Fact 2: People don’t care about you or your goals, your products or business.

One of the biggest shifts people need to make is not making it about themselves.

We must think in terms of our prospect and what is important to them.

We must craft the conversation (presentation) about how they can accomplish their goals and dreams.  We must help them to connect the dots and realize that our leadership, our products and our business can help them reach their goals faster.

Once you realize, it is not about you, your leadership and your recruiting will skyrocket.

Why?

People will know you are not trying to sell or convince them to do something that really does not benefit them.

I have learned to not be attached to people’s decision and choices. I have found that I feel much better about myself when I focus on what is best for the prospect.

Fact 3: You will NOT make $100,000 a year right out of the gate.

Yes, some people do, but most do not.  Don’t look for get rich quick opportunities.  Instead, look for growing trends, consumer demands and strong leadership. Have ambition and work hard.

Devote time to learning the foundational skills and be consistent with them.

This profession is easy to do. Unfortunately, it is also easy not to do.

It is a business that is based on four basic steps.  It is a wash rinse and repeat cycle.

• Expose the information
• Present the information
• Follow up to answer questions
• Enroll
  

and repeat

Measure yourself daily.

If you don’t know how to engage people and ask questions–learn that skill.

If you don’t know how to create your own leads–learn that skill.

If you don’t know how to do webinars–learn that skill.

Stop making excuses and start taking action. It is your business not your upline’s business. Take responsibility and show up as though you are the CEO of a multi-million dollar business.

One of the best parts of Network Marketing is the constant emphasis on learning and growing.

Network Marketing will pay you based on the value that you bring to the market place. Your pay raise will become effective as soon as you do.

Fact 4: If you are not successful, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your challenges and mistakes, learn from them.

When my kids were teenagers, I enrolled them is a leadership and personal development course. My son, Matt, was 16. One of his biggest take a ways was he could not belief the number of people who were over 40 years old that were still blaming their parents for where they were in life and what they have become.

You are where you are in life and in your business because of your thinking.

My coach once told me, “For things to change Terry, you must change.  For things to get better you must get better.”

It was true. It was painful, but it was true.

There will always be some areas where you have no knowledge, and areas will make you really uncomfortable. The best advice I could give you is to get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Fact 5: Leaders in Network Marketing teach their teams to expect some setbacks, challenges, and failures on the way to victory.

The fact is you will make mistakes.  The only question is will you get bitter or better from them?

Leaders accept responsibility. They focus on the “who they want to become”.

No one is a totally self-made person. All of us have climbed onto the shoulders of the greatest minds and leaders in the world. Share your wisdom and life lessons with others. Focus on giving people a hand up instead of a hand out.

Fact 6: Managing your focus, your vision and your time.

The Networking Marketing profession is open for business 365 days per year.

It is up to you to determine how hard and how long that you will work for your dreams.

It is sad that some people will spend more time planning a vacation than they will in planning their life.

I love the saying, “If it’s to be, then it’s up to me.”

If your upline helps you then that is a bonus, but not a given nor a requirement. If you have a training system, then plug in and get going.

You can make excuses or you can create results.  You get to chose.

Fact 7 – Act as if you are a Millionaire in Motion

In Network Marketing the fantastic lifestyles that you see are the result of hard work. If anyone tells you that you can achieve that without a serious work ethic then they are lying to you.

You must believe in your mind’s eye that you are a millionaire in your business.

You are only limited by your ability to dream—and most people do a great job of limiting themselves.

Leaders teach people to dream and hope again. There is no such thing as a “hopeless situation” only hopeless people in situations.

A leader’s role is to empower people.  To give people hope, ideas, and the skills to change their situations.

When your team members reach the highest leadership levels in your business, it is their victory not yours.

You however I can tell you this from personal experience that when you have a person be recognized for earn over a one million dollars it creates an incredible feeling in your heart.

You realize that your leadership made a difference in their life and the lives of the people they touched.

That my friend, is what I want for you.
