Terry…there are so many good things in this post. I have been flat out on my back sick this week thinking a great deal about time, energy, hardships and so forth. I noticed something about myself that was intriguing to me. I was a bit stressed because of the time I was losing while I couldn’t move but it quickly moved into more self-reflection.

I was really in an immense amount of pain but instead of complaining and burying myself in the negativity of the pain I actually went toward the pain and started exploring the depths and roots of it. I actually discovered a revelation about myself through this exercise that was seemingly in part connected to this illness.

Now this was not immediate…it actually took a few days of searching in and out of being completely in an exhausted state…but the journey was quite good and positive.

It actually was probably a better use of my time than had I not been ill. One of the discoveries that has made the biggest impact on me these past few years is that if I am trying to force life into my view of what it should be…then…A) it is a reminder that there is something about me in that particular area that still needs growth… and B) being able to bring things into the moment of life working with them instead of trying to manipulate them is a far better way to live and move forward.

Much of how we grow in “success” has so much more to do with us and who we are than with any company or compensation plan or marketing scheme or anything else. All of these things are obviously important…but none of them will be of much help if the people wielding these tools is all twisted up inside.

Hi Patrick, having a vision for success is critical to making it happen. I have also found a key element is having a great coaching who believed in me and could help me stay focused and help me eliminate the negative self talk in my own head. This is a journey that has its challenges for sure but I can tell you first hand it is a journey worth taking!

Hi John,

One of my most important lessons was when I realized that I had to Be, then Do, then I would Have the things I wanted.

I think a lot folks need to shift their thinking from when I Have the things, I’ll Do the things, then I will Be person I need to be.

They do not get that we must show up today as the leader we want to be.

In my vision workshops, I have people design the best you they can best with all the right stuff then get them to ask themselves this empowering question:

“How would the person I want to become do the things I need to do?”

This creates massive shifts in thinking… try it out…

So many people struggle with their struggles. Does that make sense? They intensify them by focusing so much on them.

Once we learn to be OK with not being OK or to be comfortable being uncomfortable, our whole world can change.

I think the reason most people don’t work for themselves is because it takes so much work; however, there is so much joy is creating a success business. The reality is while we might spend more hours initially, freedom is ours…everyday! It’s a beautiful thing!

Hi Scott, thanks for sharing. What I have discovered is a lot of people and I’m sad to say some of my close friends jump from business to business trying to find the right opportunity.

While there is some merit to selecting the right company, most people look for success out there when they should be looking at their habits and actions.

As a success business coach I’m surprised at the number of people who do not want to be held accountable for their actions.

One of my mottos is: listen to what people say but watch what they do.
