This is a very thoughtful post. It never ceases to amaze me how people believe that you can create something of lasting value without making a significant investment of some sort. To an extent, its basic economics. Anything that can be produced with no effort will be overproduced to the extent that there is no inherent value in it.

Still, it can be hard to always find the will to push on through the headwinds. Thanks for providing an inspiration.

I have found that staying on course sometimes means the you run off the course but you are always headed in the right direction.

As a former pilot, I know that while the winds may push you this way and that way…as long as your compass is working properly you you can adjust your course to end up in the right destination: success!

Thanks for your feedback and response. Unfortunately, some over-zealous people sometimes paint a picture that is not realistic.

Any time you learn a new skill it takes time. And my experience as it relates to internet marketing is, it is VERY easy to get seduced into the next great marketing approach that is going to make you a lot of money quickly.

What I have found is that it is more important to build a strong knowledge base using an existing product, system or marketing method before you take on something new.

Even today for myself, since I love marketing I am highly attracted to methods and products. It takes a lot of self discipline not to get sucked into the next thing.

I congratulate you on being proactive in your education. Remember to use your time wise and partner with people that will support you. This means they will not do it for but they will do it with you.

I ask my team members not to come to me with problems or questions until they have at least tried to solve their problem on their own.

PS The best internet marketing and educational system that I have is the Online Mastermind System.

My biggest challenges have been distractions of trying to learn and do everything by myself. I spent more money getting some good information but because I was a beginner it was like taking an advanced course before the basics. With the distractions of life and owning your own business already it really overwhelmed me. The person I signed on with did give me the right steps but gave me the impression that they didn’t have time for whiners and it was EASY to do. Just create a website (pay for a web designer if you needed help), do a video (buy a class-buy a camera) and learn Google PPC.

I had just opened my own business a couple months before and didn’t even know about online business you could do at home. It was almost by accident that I discovered this new world based on my online research about what I was doing in my company. The excitement about the marketing concepts I had learned about kept my interest and despite my distractions I began again to get back into the right direction.

You are really setting a great example of leadership and I felt like this was another reminder I was doing the right thing.

Thank you for sharing this message; it certainly resonated with me. I agree with your sentiments that there is no easy/ quick way to build a solid, long term successful business. Life is not a sprint, but rather an endurance race- like a marathon.

As you mentioned, inevitably, we “hit the wall” in a marathon or we encounter road blocks in life that can slow us down.

Those who consistently stay the course, overcome challenges, and surround themselves with positive, like minded people are those that will experience life-long success both professionally and personally.

I am new to social marketing and am excited to continue to learn new things! As you describe– focus, vision, strategy, building tribes, and working with an experienced mentor is a foundational starting point for long-term success.

I think we all want it to be a sprint but that is not reality. Lasting success is about learning the skills and developing ourselves. And the interesting thing is that the person we become during that journey often becomes our greatest reward.
