Persistence in a home based business?

That’s the million-dollar question that people ask themselves way too late in the game.

What do I mean by that?

I have seen it over and over.  A well-meaning person starts a home based business because they think they can make some quick money or it sounded like a good idea.

Six months later (or less) they feel like a failure.

Many people look down on this profession, and yes, it is an incredible profession, because they see and hear about many failures.

First, there are rarely any failures.

People just quit.

Why?

People (you probably know someone like this) do not have persistence in a home based business because they lack vision and commitment.

In the book, The 7 Minute Solution by Allyson Lewis, there is a quote form the Navy Seals creed.

“I will never quit. I persevere and thrive on adversity.
My Nation expects me to be physically harder and
mentally stronger than my enemies.  If knocked
down, I will get back up, every time.  I will draw on
every remaining ounce of strength to protect my
teammates and to accomplish our mission. I am
never out of the fight.”

 What if you adopted this creed for your home based business?

Persistence in a home based business?

I have to laugh at the lame excuses we make up as to why we have not succeeded in our home business.

I’m not saying it is easy, although, some make it look like that.  It has NEVER been easy for me.  I don’t expect it to be.

But, I decided long ago that I was going persistence in a home based business!

I GOT CLEAR!

On what?

Maybe for you it is your kids, or your retirement, or that mission that you always thought about supporting.

The fact, is you have been playing small.

The question is… how is that working for you?

Do you have a pity party for yourself daily?

Or do you look for solutions and implement solutions that will work for you?

My friend, the time has come for you to fight for your freedom!

Take on the creed of the Navy Seals.

Get committed and don’t leave people behind.

I don’t want you to do this business for your teammates; I just want you to do it with them!

You must work on your skills. You must become a leader.

There are great systems that you can use for peanuts that will teach you how to market online and offline, how to prospect on the phone, and how to become a leader.  My Lead System Pro is just one example of that.

I will tell you what got me clear… it was a defining moment that got me started in this profession…it was my family.

I remember the day like it was yesterday where my son, Matt climbed into my lap and asked me “Dad, do you still love me?”

That broke my heart, even as I write this 17 years later, my eyes are tearing up and my heart feels heavy.

When I asked him “Why would you ask that Matt?” His response was, “I just never see you anymore.”

Six month later I quit my corporate job and went into this profession full time.

To say I was willing to fight for my freedom and to be the dad I wanted to be was an understatement.

 Where Did I Get the Strength for Persistence in a Home Based Business?

I love my family.

I love this profession.

It has given me my life back.

And my passion is to help as many people as I possibly can to get their life back.  I can’t do it for them, but I can do it with them.

I can show them how to have persistence in a home based business by my example and leadership.

Anything you do and reach a high level of success requires a lot of work, vision and commitment.

We see examples all the time, whether it’s the 2012 Super Bowl game between the NY Gaints and the New England Patriots or every day guys like Ray Higdon, who just a couple of years ago was in foreclosure and at his wits end who is now being labeled as the “new breed of home based business professional”.

Both of these examples required tremendous vision, commitment and discipline.

You can believe they put in ALL OUT EFFORT!

7 Minutes to a Remarkable Life?

Could it really be possible to create a remarkable life 7 minutes at a time?

The answer is yes!

As we wrap up 2011 and reflect what we have accomplished or perhaps a better question is what have we not accomplished but intended to accomplish?

We really need to stop and evaluate where we are spending our time and is that investment in time fulfilling us and taking us closer to creating the remarkable we truly desire?

Answering “Yes” is what will make you happy.

A couple of weeks ago I received my executive book summary of  “The 7 Minute Solution” where Darren Hardy reviews the top business books.

I was very intrigued.

I immediately went to amazon.com and purchased the book.

By the way this was just released December 27, 2011.

Here’s what I discovered…

This is the perfect book for any one who wants to be fulfilled with their life.

I discovered that this book while in not tactical for building a network marketing organization or home business has everything to do with building a loyal team.

As a leader, I feel it is our job to lead people and to assist people to create a remarkable life…whatever that means to the individual.

Here are a few key questions that really caught my attention. I have added some comments to tie them into our business.

1) Are you really aware of what you want from your life (or business)?
Life will give you exactly what you demand, but first you must clarify your ideas in writing and create an action plan.

2) Are you motivated?
Know the force that pushes you to stretch yourself for your goals. Create 90-day goals and then break down into mini goals and you will experience the thrill of success more often.

3) Are you growing and Learning?
Your brain has incredible potential but is functions on a use it or lose it basis. Growth is critical because it ignites your enthusiasm for letting go of old habits. (Hmmm am I talking to you now?)

4) Are you engaged?
Are you focused on your highest pay off activities (prospecting, presenting, following up and enrolling) or are you getting distracted?

5) Are you persevering?
Making significant changes requires perseverance. Why? Bad habits are hard to break. Sometimes by shifting our language or how we spend our time and who we spend our time with can yield massive breakthroughs.

6) Are you using your talents?
When you focus on your strengths, for example building relationships as opposed to trying to learn all the online marketing strategies you will build your team faster and become profitable more quickly.

7) Are you living with faith and belief?
Faith and belief compels you to look beyond yourself, to reach out to others and give of yourself.  Knowing that your business and products help others are key to you staying in the game and developing a business that will lead to a 6 or 7 figure income.

As you can see these questions really apply to everyone no matter what their profession.

At the end of the day, my belief is that we MUST be consciously aware of what we truly desire and focus all of our energy on accomplishing that.

Let me ask you a question, do ever struggle in your business, do you get frustrated because you are not where you want to be?  I know I have.

Would you like to know the reason for this? Are you ready for a BOLD Answer?

It is because of your thinking.

Did I say that? OUCH! Yep I sure did.

And as hard is that is to hear, it is true.

Good, bad or ugly the success of your business and in fact your lifestyle right now in this moment is the result of your thinking. Your choices have created the life you have today and the business you have today.

Sorry if this is too bold but you are here for the straight talk right?

Take note, this is important…your current circumstances do not define your future!!

Your lifestyle can be totally different two years from now if you create some shifts in your thinking and actions. I have seen this happen first hand over and over again.

The fact is we all have challenges… it is called the fabric of life.

You are here for answers so let me help you create some positive shifts in your business and your life

First, take responsibility for what you have created or perhaps better said what you have not created.

The simple act of doing this will help you stand out as a leader.  Others may not see this act but you will know it.  You are the most important person there is to impress.

By taking a stand for your future you can be proud of yourself.

Here’s a team-building tip:

When you talk to your team members, let them know you struggle at times and that you have challenges too.  It also shows people that you are vulnerable which most people find attractive. You are like them and the are not alone.

Success in life, in relationships, and in business is built on the small decisions you make.

Let me ask you a question, are you up for a shift that will help you change your thinking and self image?

Tonight when your head first touches your pillow I want you think about what you have created up until this point in your business then say to yourself “Everything that has happened to me has happened for a reason and it has prepared me for what I am about to create.”

Then image in vivid detail what your ideal business will look like.

Let me share mine… My business is perfect.  It generates massive passive income to me every single month like clockwork and it continually grows.  I get to work with people that I really enjoy being with. I get to help people from all walks of life and circumstances and assist in their transformation into leaders.  I have the privilege of speaking in front of large groups of people sharing my message of hope, new possibilities and financial freedom.  I hear from people every day on how much of a difference I have made in their life.

My team is highly motivated and self-directed. They are teachable coachable and trainable.  They talk to people everyday and support the people they bring into the business.  We work together to develop innovative marketing solutions and change people’s lives every single day.  My team makes great money, which allows them to create the quality of life they desire for their family. Abundance is all around us.

When I get up in the morning I actually write those two paragraphs in my journal.  I invite you to do the same.  This exercise only takes a few minutes and  I think you will be impressed on what happens to you and your business with this simple daily activity.

I am so proud to be a network marketing professional.  It has given me my life back and allowed me to become that dad and husband that I wanted to be.

I have really made a difference in people’s lives. I have really made a difference for my family.  Both of my kids from ages 8 & 10 have had two full time stay at home parents.  How many people do you know who can say that?  I have worked my butt off and I did it for the love of my family

And in the process I have helped people to earn over $1,000,000 cash money in their bank account.  Together we have had a positive impact on tens of thousands of people around the world.  How cool is that?  How many people in corporate America can say they have done that?  The answer is not many. This profession offers the same to you.

This profession has a level playing field.

What do I mean by that?  Everyone starts at the same place and your income is a reflection of your contribution of your business and product movement to the market place.

So why do some struggle and some succeed?

All too often people live in the past and maintain old habits; they focus on what is not working instead of focusing on what they can do in the future to create the desired lifestyle.  They don’t set goals, they don’t track their results and they don’t make adjustments.

I’ve been in this profession full-time for now for 17 years. And during that time you can believe I’ve experienced my fair share of challenges and setbacks.  At times, I accomplish a goal then get knocked back down.  I remember talking to an industry veteran once and told him I felt like I was in a bubble and could never break through the $5,000/month barrier. I felt I would push, push, push only to get slapped back down.  It was very frustrating.  Can you relate?

He suggested that I continue to work on myself and to get a coach. Which I did and boy did that ever make a positive difference

It is not what happens to you that matters, it is how you react to it that counts.

Often people will make a comment to my wife Amy and myself and they we have it easy.

Well the reality is we do not focus on the challenges or problems that we have.  We do not make them the center of our life.  In fact, we have the core believe that something good comes out of every situation and only good things happen to us.

How do you think this makes us feel?  I can tell you, we feel empowered and in control!

When I have a challenge, I have found it is best to look at it square in the eye and face it head on.  Maybe it is because my dad told me when I was going to college that there is a brick wall in front of you and you can’t go over it; under it or around it you must go through it.

Most people call this persistence and a do whatever it takes attitude.

Zig Zigler says, you must adopt an “It’s Now or Never” attitude and get rid of your ‘stinking thinking’.

No matter where you are, where you have been, what counts most is where you are going.

Everyone in MLM or network marketing experiences the frustrations of putting time into people who say they want success but simply do not follow through.

The lesson that I have learned is to listen to what people say then watch what they do.  Spend your time with people who deserve your time and not with the ones who need your time

Watch your thinking. There is no need to get emotional about it, it is just the way it is.

I invite you to learn to be patient with the process and to stay true to your dreams and desires.

You must start to take responsibility for your success.  No one else will.

Here a three action items that you can do today to create a better tomorrow.

1)   Have clearly defined goals
2)   Visualize the success of your ideal business and lifestyle
3)   Stay disciplined and focused

Let me wrap this up by sharing what one of my coaches told me when I was stuck at $5,000/month and just could not break through.

She said, “Terry for things to change, you must change.  For things to get better, you must get better.”

You can do this.  I believe in you!

Entrepreneurs Get Paid For Results, Not Time Spent

The Secret to your success lies here…

Success in business and in life is not as hard as most people think it is.

You might think the secret for has been hidden from you all these years.  In fact, you have probably purchased skill based courses to create the success that you have been looking for.

In this information and technology age we get overwhelmed with marketing messages from people and companies who are trying to influence us to buy their course or product then we will finally become successful.

I think it is fair to say we all want to become successful at some level and yet it seems to allude us.

I’ve discovered that there are four key areas that we must focus on to become successful.  Most people know three out of four of them.

No matter what business you are in the better you are and the more confident you are in these four areas the more successful you will become.

Make no mistake three out of four won’t cut it.

It seems it’s human nature to look for someone else’s secret, answer or formula to take us closer to what we want.

Lessons From a Wanna Be Million Dollar Earner in 1998

Yesterday I got the bug to clean part of my office closet.  I was surprised at the amount of junk I had saved.

I was in major throwaway mode. To my delight, I found some real gems that I think you and I both can learn from.

In 1998, I was at this point in my network marketing career where I had been in involved in about 4 companies in 4 years.  OUCH!

We were tapping into the savings that we set aside for our kid’s college education and Amy, my wife told me to get a ‘real job’ again.

…I had caught the MLM lifestyle bug, I had a dream to be free…

One of my problems was I had met people who had earned millions of dollars in the industry…I just knew in my gut that I could too…but I just didn’t have my act together.

Do you know anyone like that?

Do you know these identity secrets?

The unfortunate truth is too many people get caught up making a living and they are not living their life of their terms.

Society, their job, their peers, the media influence them and the go aimlessly like a ship without a rudder.

How about you?

Do you know who you are and where you are going?

I mean really, really know who you are and what your stand for?

Or are you a wandering through life?

This past weekend I was in Las Vegas where I gave a workshop on creating a new Identity and Vision for yourself.

If there ever was a place where you see it all (some times more than you really want) it is on the strip of Vegas…especially on a Halloween weekend. (I will let your imagination run with that. Lol)

It is fascinating to me that some people will stand up and get out of their comfort zone to create a new quality of life while others just complain about how the world is doing them wrong.

If you take time to observe people… some are up dancing and full of life (typically those are the ones who know where they are going and are on purpose) while other are victims of their own thinking.  These are the people who rarely take responsibility for their lifestyle.

How to Become an MLM Leader with 10,000+ reps

Recently I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with a business leader.  The interesting thing about this conversation was while they had been very successful in business they have never really built a sizable MLM organization or achieved any real success in MLM.

I sensed a passion stirring for new possibilities, some fear and anxiety of what could or might not be but most important an openness to learn.

I asked questions, I listened, I asked more questions and listened some more…

They said something like this…

I fell in love with the product but I did not personally meet my sponsor for months. I never really had someone that I could work with side by side.

My desire is to help people who have never really been successful in the MLM industry to become successful.

I just love the relationship building, the personal growth and empowerment part of this business.

Can you see what’s going on here?

Perhaps a frustration for their lack of success…were they taking responsibility for the results they had achieved or were they looking to cast blame?

What would a MLM Leader do if they were in this place?

Can you see where there might be an internal conflict of integrity that has been building up for them?

The thought of helping people to become successful is awesome; however, when you take responsibility for leading someone where you have never been can be scarier than Halloween being on Friday the 13^th.

All kinds of demons can show up in your minds eye.

There was another KEY thing they said that will continue to hold them back.  Do you know what it was?

They are focusing on prospecting the ‘unsuccessful’.

This is what I refer to as sponsoring the weak. These people are typically below your social and economic level.

It’s called sponsoring down.

Why do people do this?

Do you know someone like this?

It is because they are comfortable talking to people at this level.  This does not typically work for building leaders but it does make you feel good.

When you look for people who are not as successful as you, you will find them, lots of them.  Unfortunately, these people typically are not willing to do what it takes to become a successful.  You will feel the need to “Push them to success” but this never works long term.

Are you getting this?

And if you are not successful and you build a team of people who have failed in MLM or in business or life, odds are you are not going to reach your goals in the timeframe you desire.

Overcoming the MLM Fears and Failures

To overcoming this dilemma the first thing you need to do is to find a sponsor / mentor / coach who has been where you want to go.  It is ideal if this person is your sponsor but not required.

If you already have a sponsor and a company and you are not reaching your financial goals then you MUST re-evaluate and decide if that business and the support you are getting will get you to where you want to go.

If not, take responsibility and create a change. It will be one of your best long term decisions.

Hire a new coach. (I did.)

Look for a better fit.  Increase your chances of success.  (I did that too!)

You can still use the product you fell in love with. (I am)

Just know that if you are in your MLM to create a massive leveraged income and you are not then take responsibility and get on a new path!

Make sense?

Get Committed.  Put it in Writing.

You also need a written plan for you personal development. Do you have that?

You also need written goals? Do you have them?

For what you ask?

Set goals and track the number of:

• New prospects
• Business presentations
• Follow ups
• 3 way calls with your upline
• 3 way calls with you downline
• New business partners
• New customers

The last KEY in Your Recipe for MLM Success

Define or redefine who is your ideal prospect.  This might mean getting out of your comfort zone and prospecting people who are already successful in the industry and in business.

There is a universal truth that I hold.

Successful entrepreneurs are always open to looking at new ways to create new income streams.

Adopt this belief it will serve you incredibly well.

This does not mean that they will join your business but it will give you the confidence to at least ask if they are open.

You will be surprised with the number of people who will say yes to taking a look.

The only thing that we can control is the number of people we approach about our business. Why not approach people who are already a success?

The result will be with a small handful of leaders you can build a massive MLM business.

This is exactly how I built a team of over 38,000 reps in 16 countries and earned millions of dollars!

For 17 years I have been building businesses online and over the phone.

I love doing this.

Actually what I love is working in my jeans and t-shirt, getting up when I’m done sleeping and spending lots of time with my family.

I recently made a decision to raise my bar.

To do that I needed expand my social network, create more friends and grow my business on a local level.

I tell people all the time, “Sometimes you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable to get to that next level of success.”

It really is true and I’m the kind of guy that walks his talk.

All this started when I realized I have thousands of friends online but my local social circle was more like a dot.  LOL!

With that decision made, it was time to get out of my cave at home and connect with people face to face.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the online marketing and networking. I will always do that.  The was right for me to go to the level next of business success and to create rich personal relationships.

Last night, I went to a “Speed Networking Event”.

What is speed networking?  It is where you get to have a conversation to another person for 5 minutes.

It is the wham-bam-thank-you-mam approach to meeting people.  A little crude I know, but you get the point.  LOL

I was pretty surprised at the number of great people I met in that short amount of time. I now have follow up appointments with several great new contacts.

Success in business is about making connections and seeing if you can help the other person become more successful…whatever that means to them.

If you look at my desk today, it is covered with business cards.

Or is it?

I actually see it as a sea of new possibilities and friends.

Isn’t it true that we enjoy doing business with people that we know like and trust?

You bet it is!

This particular group-networking event was held at a Capital City Club downtown Raleigh, NC.   It is a wonderful community of business professionals who I do not know.

Allow me to ask you a bold question?

How serious are you about expanding your network and growing your business?

Would you hire or fire you based on your prospecting ability and networking actions?

Is it time for you to show up differently?

Whether you build offline or online, it is all about making contacts, prospecting, building relationships, solving problems and working your business.

After all it is called “Net-Working” right?

It is not called “Net-Goofing Off”.

Take home message

Put the work and discipline back in your networking.

When you do, you might have a messy desk littered with business cards which might just yield you a bountiful harvest.

Find a Speed Networking Event in your area.  If you can’t then start one!

You will discover great new connections, some future customers and business partners and if you are lucky some great new friends.

And yes, lots of people who are not interested in you, your product or business and that my friend is perfectly normal.  In fact, it is the way it is supposed to be.

Get out of your head and emotions and start networking.

1 on 1 Relationship Meeting Gone Bad…lol

This is kind a funny and kind of sad story at the same time.

But, most of all it is a very good lesson.

A lesson on how not to do a 1 on 1 relationship building meeting.

If you do local networking or attend local networking event then you will want to pay attention to this.

I sincerely hope that you never do this or experience this.  It was my intention to get to know a person that I met at a local leads group.  We agreed to meet so we could get to know one another…or so I thought.

Watch the video and I will share this enlightening encounter.

Business relationship in network marketing and any business for that manner are built on two communications and trust.  When one party does not follow these guideline things never work out.

During this meeting I almost got up twice and walked away.  I probably should have, however I was trying my best to be respectful.

As I reflect on this meeting I almost did not want to share it then thought you or someone you know might benefit from this.

Remember to set yourself apart from the pack and as Dale Carnegie says ‘take a sincere interest’ in the other person.

In today’s failing economy, many people are beginning to realize that they can’t count on the government or their 9 to 5 job any more for financial security.

The result is tens of thousands of people are getting involved in network marketing, MLM or direct sales.

But, once you are “in” how do you make a full time income?

The fact is most people fail because they do not treat it as a serious business. Their financial investment to get started is low and so is their commitment to succeed.

But, let’s say you are serious and you work hard, how do you make it?

I believe there is only one way to make this happen…and it is to develop a team of solid leaders that will be with you for the long haul.

Your first step is to take responsibility and to develop yourself as a leader then search for other who want what you want and will stay the course.

Leaders = Leveraged Income

I don’t care what business you are in, your income will be a reflection of the leaders you have in your business. This can be a scary thought but with time and dedicate you can solve it.

Start thinking leadership development!

Let go of how much income you want to make and shift that to how many leaders you will need to create it.  Then create your plan to develop your leaders.

It is important to know many people will express an interest; and a few will actually do what they say they are going to do.  This OK if you expect it.

What Defines an Business Leader?

1. They have a clear vision of what they intend to accomplish.
2. They have created a project and a specific plan for its attainment.
3. They are self-motivated by their vision and maintain their own enthusiasm, persistence, attitude, and most importantly, their actions.
4. They produce their intended results.

Until you have someone who meets these four criteria, you do not have a leader.

You may have a nice person who works hard and wants very much to be successful. You may even have someone who will do everything you ask.

However, until they consistently produce from their own motivation, they cannot be counted on for leadership.

Focus on developing yourself as a powerful leader, then and only then will you attract powerful leaders to your organization.

Developing a Loyal Leadership Team

The community that you develop from the leaders to the brand new person must have a long-term vision, they must expect that the business will not be perfect and people will second-guess them.  You must create a mindset of keeping the main thing the main thing.

Your team must focus on selling the product and sponsoring every month—no matter what. The key to accomplishing this lies with your leaders.

Leadership and relationships are the glue that holds the organization together.

So how do you earn and keep leader loyalty, and not die in the process?

When your focus is on finding and developing leaders in this fashion, what you will build are lasting friendships, loyal partnerships and a true Leverage Income that you can count on to secure your financial future.

Learn Why you Must “Go For No” in Your Business…

The word “NO” is the down fall of most people in the MLM, network marketing, direct sales or any sales for that matter.

The concept of rejection kills many dreams.

The emotional feeling most people self-inflict is crazy! You might know someone like that.

What you must understand that every sales offer is about sorting and shifting to find the people who are looking for what you have to offer.

How to position yourself as a leader in your prospect’s eyes.

Every person wants to follow a strong leader.

The question is… are you that strong leader?

Or are you being casual with your influence?

The truth is, it is not that difficult to position yourself as a leader in your prospect’s eyes. And if you are wanting to attract more MLM leads or prospects on Facebook for example, it is much easier than you might think.

But, it does require consistency.

Which is where most people fall short.

This like most things in life is easy to do and easy not to do.

My buddy and mentor, Jim Rohn said that to me years ago and it really applies to most everything you do or want to do.

If you are like me and most people in network marketing you want to become successful.

4 Causes of MLM Failure

If you are struggling in your business or you simply are not where you want to be, it is probably because of your thinking.

OUCH!

Like it or not, your life and business is a reflection of your decisions.

The good news/bad news about this business is it is very in your face when it comes to success.

Your income is a reflection of your contribution of your business and product movement to the market place.

All too often people live in their head; they focus on what is not working instead of focusing on what they can do to create the desired result.

They do not ask for help because their ego is getting in the way.

I know, I have been there too.

I’ve been in the MLM business now for 17 years. And during that time you can believe I’ve experienced my fair share of challenges.

I have found to overcome challenges it is best to look them square in the eye and face them head on.

Here are the 4 causes that if not managed properly will squelch our financial dreams or worse yet, kill them.

1)   lack of clearly defined goals

2)   an opportunity we are enrolled in but not passionately engaged in

3)   an overreaction to negative actions and opinions

4)   the inability to stay disciplined with the work required

No matter where you are, where you have been, what counts most is where you are going.

You must adopt an “It’s Now or Never” attitude and get rid of your ‘stinking thinking’ as Zig Zigler says.

Dealing with challenges

Every entrepreneur faces challenges.

Every job has its challenges.

I call this life.

It is not what happens to you, it is how you react or handle the challenges that count.  Here’s a great post on that topic. And trust me, the universe will test your conviction of your dreams and goals.

Everyone in MLM or network marketing experiences the frustrations of putting time into people who say they want success but simply do not follow through.

You know the reps who say they will come to a meeting or a conference call with prospects but don’t show up. Or the reps who say they will come to the convention up don’t show up.

Have you ever heard the expression ‘success is 90% showing up’?  Well in MLM or network marketing it is true.

Here’s Why

When you show up at events or on conference calls, you build up your belief little by little every time you hear about the success of others.

Consciously and subconsciously you say to yourself, if they can do it I can too.

Every event, every conference works to charge your believe battery.  And when your battery is fully charged, nothing can stop you.

The lesson that I have learned is to…

Listen to what people say then watch what they do.

Spend your time with people who deserve your time and not with the ones who need your time.

There is no need to get emotional about it, it is just the way it is.

Maturity in MLM, network marketing or any business in the world includes a great deal of tolerance for things that need to be improved, but must be endured until they are improved.

This includes you.

I invite you to learn to be patient with the process and to stay true to your dreams and desires.

If you are ever to reach your goal of financial freedom, you will need to first be realistic about your expectations of others.  Second, you will need to develop yourself emotionally and skillset wise to create the desired outcome.

Lastly, be sure that you are working with a coach weekly if not daily in the beginning or at least in times of struggle to help you stay focused on your highest pay off tasks.

If you don’t have one, hire one.  If you don’t have the money to hire one call your upline support team until you find one that will help you.  If you can’t find one in your current business, then join another business where you will have a great one.

You must start to take responsibility for your success.  No one else will.

Let me wrap this up by sharing what one of my coaches told me when I was stuck at $5,000/month and just could not break through.

She said, “Terry for things to change, you must change.  For things to get better, you must get better.”

We all have our own journey in developing our MLM business. Just don’t fall victim to the 4 causes of MLM Failure.

How to Listen…the Secret to Building a Big Team

If you have the desire to build a success business, any business but especially an MLM or Network Marketing business then you absolutely must develop your listening skills.

I know from personal experience and doing it wrong that it can be very costly in both time and money.

I have said it before and I will say it again; sometimes you must slow down before you can go faster.

Listening allows you to connect to your prospect.  Really listening gives you exactly what you need to know to help them solve their problem.

It is time to take your ego out of the picture and make it all about them and not your products or your business.

Listen is the skill to master for team building

• Remember, you have 2 ears and 1 mouth
• Get focused on your prospect
• Lean in slightly toward your prospect
• Repeat the key components of what you heard
• Maintain eye contact
• Ask questions when appropriate
• Don’t interrupt
• Tell the prospect, “I can help you.”

The Abundance, Prosperity and Gratitude Mindset

These life principles are foundational for a good life.

Yes, there are more but just for today let’s look at how you are applying these to your life.

I begin each day with Gratitude.  

I’m grateful for my health, my financial wealth, the relationships in my life, even the flowers I grow…everything I can think of.

This thinking helps me to get in a state of  prosperity that create an overall feeling of abundance. The result is…a feeling of life is good.

Not only am I grateful for all the good in my life, I am grateful for the challenges. I know they will help me to grow stronger and to become a better person.

I encourage you to try this for a week.  Be aware of the shifts that begin to take place in your life.  It’s pretty cool.

You Can’t Out Give the Universe.

One of the fundamental secrets of prosperity is giving.

From a business perspective, it is the basis of social media marketing.  But, it goes much deeper than that for your life.

I believe that everything in the universe is based on the principle of trading vale for value.  It is my opinion that it is an unbalanced scale. I have found that you send out comes back to you in multiples, many times ten fold.

This holds true for the money you tithe, the love you give, and the good you do.  What have you been giving lately?

Have you ever experienced giving with no expectations of receiving?

Try this…the first time I did this people were shocked. And I must admit I felt really good about helping some one out.

The next time you are in line at the grocery store and you see someone that is struggling to pay for their groceries or look like they are, ask them if you can pay for their groceries.  They will look at you like you are nuts and the cashier will too.

The truth is, it won’t cost you much and it will make you feel like a million bucks.

You will know you made a difference for that person on that day.

There are thousands of ways to make a difference. I don’t really care what they are just do it.

Wealth Creation

You may read about the occasional person who inherits wealth.  But true wealth…the kind that stay with you comes as a result of a very deliberate process.  It does not happen to you …you happen to it.

You become a wealthy person in your mind; then you manifest it on the physical plane by becoming the kind of person that attracts prosperity and abundance to you.

In network marketing we like to call this personal development.  It begins with you seeing yourself as a success already then acting and doing the things that successful people do.

From this day forward, make an effort to come from a place of abundance and prosperity.

Cultivate an attitude of gratitude and you will transform your life and the lives of people around you.

Take a moment right now and write down a list of 20 things that you are grateful for.

Remember, how you show up everyday will either attract people to you and your business or send them the other way.

You get to make the choices and to cultivate your mindset and come from a place of abundance and  prosperity everyday.

You have a choice so, make it a better than a terrific day!

Do You Have These 7 Traits of a Good Sponsor?

Are you a good sponsor?

After being involved with the network marketing profession now full time for over 17 years. I’ve come to realize the importance of ‘being’ a good sponsor, upline or coach; whatever label you want to put on it.

I have seen many good hard working people struggle because there was a lack of leadership.

I have seen super recruiters completely drop the ball when it came to developing a team.

I’m not sure where you are in the process but I can tell you this.

If you desire true walk any residual income then you must develop yourself as a strong leader, sponsor and/or coach.

This is not always an easy process because more than likely your ‘stuff’ is going to come up.

Here are the 7 traits of a good sponsor.

Knowledgeable

Leads by Example

Patient and Accepting

Consistent

Direct Communicator

Integrity

Vision

Here is some Leadership homework. Are you up for that?

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest how would you rate yourself in these areas?  Get honest and don’t BS yourself.

Your next step is to work towards improving these areas.

It will not happen over night, just know it will happen when you focus on making it happen.
