You know the kind I’m talking about, BNI group (Business Network International), Lead Exchange Groups or even Chamber meetings.  These same principles apply to building your business online especially if you are doing video marketing. What you are going to learn is…

How to Introduce Yourself

What typically happens at these networking events?

Everyone sits around a table, the chairperson says this is how to introduce yourself, say your name, company name and what you do.

It starts like this…

“Hi my name is Joe Smith I own Joe Smith cleaning company. For 13 years we have been cleaning home and offices in the area. We pride ourselves (he says this with zero enthusiasm) in using no chemicals and we come to your house rain or shine.”

The next person, sitting down says, “My name is Phyllis Brown, and I work with the Fat Loss Juice.” (At this point, you see people playing with their blackberries and iPhones not paying any attention to her). She continues by saying, “Fat Loss Juice has been in business for 35 years and we help people with our yummy juices, shakes and cookies. A good referral for me is someone who wants to lose weight.”

The next person starts with “My name is Tom Deck, and I work with …” at this point you are totally bored out of your mind!

This goes on for 20 people…and no one is paying attention! Because no one knows how to introduce yourself.

What’s the problem here? 

You have seen this when people market online too.  They get one of these training system and self replicated websites that they have seen many times there is nothing new!

EVERYONE IS SOUNDS THE SAME!

You need to understand that sameness will kill you.

Learn how to introduce yourself in a creative and memorable way.

You want to stand out don’t you?

In fact you want to be always remembered as that creative guy or gal.

How do you do that?

You do what everyone is not doing.

Let’s look back at what people were doing in our scenario…they were told this is how to introduce yourself (in the wrong way, don’t be a sheep and flow the herd..lol), they were all sitting down, they all used the same basic script or formula, it is the one they use every week, week after week hoping to burn it into people’s mind. As soon as the person before them finishes they jump in. And worst of all they lack enthusiasm.

I’m sure all of these people are great people they just lack any creative communication skills.

How do you set yourself apart?

Since everyone sits, you stand up.

Everyone begins with his or her name and business, you end with your name and business.

Most people are dull, be interesting.

Now you area asking me, “Well Terry how in the world do I do that?”

This is where the magic is…

When it is your turn, you stand, you pause to create silence and scan the group, this gets attention then you tell a short story and end with your name and a benefit of your biggest benefit of your product/service. 

This is how to introduce yourself…it flat out works!

Let me give you a couple of examples…

Let’s go back to Phyllis the Fat Loss Juice lady.

It is her turn, she stands up, pauses and scans the room “It was 8am on July 3^rd 2010, I was packing for a trip to the beach. I tried my bathing suit on from last year, (she pauses and looks down) to my surprise I could barely get into it to. It was not pretty. From that day forward I vowed that I would get back to a size 2. I did it.  My name is Phyllis Brown, and help people look, trim and sexy by shedding their fat.”

Now you might be saying but wait she did not mention the company name or the products!  Well the truth is people don’t care about that they care about what those things can do for them.

Here’s another example, this one is focus on collecting silver coins. Remember you stand up pause and scan then say something like this…

“The year is 1966.  In 1966 you could have purchased a drop dead gorgeous candy apple red mustang for $2500 paper dollars or 2500 silver dollars. But the year is 2012. 2500 paper dollars can buy you what? A nice set of tires? Perhaps a down payment?  (you let out a disgusting laugh and shake your head left to right) Those same 2500 “silver dollars” could get you 3 loaded Mustangs plus a luxury cruise around the world! My name is Terry Petrovick and I show people how to create, collect and preserve their wealth with silver and gold coins.”

Can you see how attention getting that is?

Remember when it comes to how to introduce yourself, do it in a memorable way .  You do this by telling a story to get into people’s emotions and imaginations and be sure to end with the biggest benefit of your product or service.

And if you go to the same groups every week change up your stories.  Believe me you will set yourself a part and you will getting more leads and having more quality conversations than ever before.

When you learn how to introduce yourself in a memorable way, people will consistently ask you for your business card because you have want they want!

For 17 years I have been building businesses online and over the phone.

I love doing this.

Actually what I love is working in my jeans and t-shirt, getting up when I’m done sleeping and spending lots of time with my family.

I recently made a decision to raise my bar.

To do that I needed expand my social network, create more friends and grow my business on a local level.

I tell people all the time, “Sometimes you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable to get to that next level of success.”

It really is true and I’m the kind of guy that walks his talk.

All this started when I realized I have thousands of friends online but my local social circle was more like a dot.  LOL!

With that decision made, it was time to get out of my cave at home and connect with people face to face.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the online marketing and networking. I will always do that.  The was right for me to go to the level next of business success and to create rich personal relationships.

Last night, I went to a “Speed Networking Event”.

What is speed networking?  It is where you get to have a conversation to another person for 5 minutes.

It is the wham-bam-thank-you-mam approach to meeting people.  A little crude I know, but you get the point.  LOL

I was pretty surprised at the number of great people I met in that short amount of time. I now have follow up appointments with several great new contacts.

Success in business is about making connections and seeing if you can help the other person become more successful…whatever that means to them.

If you look at my desk today, it is covered with business cards.

Or is it?

I actually see it as a sea of new possibilities and friends.

Isn’t it true that we enjoy doing business with people that we know like and trust?

You bet it is!

This particular group-networking event was held at a Capital City Club downtown Raleigh, NC.   It is a wonderful community of business professionals who I do not know.

Allow me to ask you a bold question?

How serious are you about expanding your network and growing your business?

Would you hire or fire you based on your prospecting ability and networking actions?

Is it time for you to show up differently?

Whether you build offline or online, it is all about making contacts, prospecting, building relationships, solving problems and working your business.

After all it is called “Net-Working” right?

It is not called “Net-Goofing Off”.

Take home message

Put the work and discipline back in your networking.

When you do, you might have a messy desk littered with business cards which might just yield you a bountiful harvest.

Find a Speed Networking Event in your area.  If you can’t then start one!

You will discover great new connections, some future customers and business partners and if you are lucky some great new friends.

And yes, lots of people who are not interested in you, your product or business and that my friend is perfectly normal.  In fact, it is the way it is supposed to be.

Get out of your head and emotions and start networking.

If you are like myself and many, many others . . . the truth is . . . you will not develop your online business right the first time.

We all make mistakes.

In fact, rarely do people accomplish anything right the first time they attempt it.  This is called being human; it is part of the fabric of life.  It is in the doing, the making of mistakes that we learn many valuable life and business lessons.

When I first got started in my first home business I did it wrong.

Some would say I was a success.

In fact, the CEO of the company said I would be the first person in the company to earn a million dollars.

You see, we had different interpretations of success.   His was products sales and enrollments.  Mine was  “Quality of Life” being with my family.

That year I was awarded “New Director of the Year” out of 65,000 people.

An award was not what I was looking for.  I was looking for a way that I could be home with my family and create a solid income.

The cost of this award was too much.  I had spent too much time away from them.  So, I sold my business and moved on to another business.  That one didn’t work out financially so I moved on.  And you know what . . . that one didn’t work out financially either.

I spent three and half years, trying my very best to create a business so I could create the quality of life I dreamed about.

Was this process frustrating? You bet it was. But, I was not giving up.

I had good intentions and I worked very hard but my thinking, my execution and my choices in companies were simply wrong.  My paycheck made that VERY clear.

I had to take full responsibility for my decisions and my results.  I knew that if I was going to be a success then it was up to me and only me.

My question for you is . . .

Do you take full responsibility for where you are in your business?

Do you take full responsibility for the quality of the relationships you have in your business and in your personally life?

Most people don’t.

If that is you.  The time has come to create some shifts.  No more blaming others. You must look at the part you play in bad relationships.

One of my coaches told me very bluntly, “Terry, for things to change, you must change.  For things to get better you must get better.”

Initially that was a tough pill to swallow.  I soon realize that she was right.

I became more determined.

I continued to feed my vision for success.  I studied successful people.  I studied their habits, their characteristics and then modeled them as best I could.

I did two more things . . . I had laser focus on my goals and I took action.

I gave it my all.

I worked on me.

The result . . .

Today, I have the lifestyle most people dream about. I have created a multi-million dollar business in twelve countries and I surround myself with high quality people who enjoy helping others, personal growth and skill set development.

My two kids have had two full-time stay at home parents from middle school through high school.  They are now both in their twenties.  And I’m proud to say that they are awesome people.

That is the pay out I was looking for.

And it was totally worth all the extra professional work, self-study and personal growth that I had to do.  I am not the person I was 15 years ago.

Where are you in your business?  What types of people do you attract?

If you are struggling with your business then odds are that you have more growing to do.  And that’s perfect.

Do you have a plan for growing personally, growing professionally, enhancing your skill sets and shifting your thinking?  If not, get one right away!

Odds are that you need a good coach and a support network that can help you during these challenging growth times.

Find them.

That’s your responsibility.

I encourage you to look at your thinking.  Realize that your current thinking has created your current lifestyle.  And if you don’t like it then you must change it.

Just know that if I can create these shifts in my life, you can too.

I believe in you . . . lot’s of people do.  It is time for you to show up differently.

Spring time is the perfect time for your to re-evaluate your goals, action plan and the results that you have gotten so far this year. Most people find themselves working their fingers to the the bone, and what do they get? Boney fingers! (haha) I couldn’t resist that one.

Most people find themselves frustrated and the result is they let go of their dreams and goals. Don’t let this happen to you…

There is something to be said for new beginnings. It is the perfect time for reflection, followed by forward thinking and goal setting. For me, it is a time for consideration of what is working and not working in my life, and what I wish to change. I also understand that if I want to change things in my life, the only way is if I change.

So, I have developed a mantra for the upcoming year. There is no copyright; feel free to steal it, if you wish.

THINGS ARE IN LINE FOR 2009!

This works on so many levels. To know me is to know that I stand for possibility. But with possibility comes responsibility.

Change is very difficult for most of us, but there are many things I know beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I know that I am a child of God. I know that I was placed here on earth to spread the message of healing. And, I know that each one of us was born with an innate intelligence that is programmed for health and well-being.

The question has everything. So my question to you is, “Do you want to be healthy or sick?”

If your answer is healthy, you need to read on to find out if you are truly on the right path.

Health can be defined as the cells in our body functioning in a state of balance or homeostasis.

If you are genetically programmed to move toward health, who is responsible for providing your system with the building blocks for proper genetic expression?

The reality of the situation is that healthy people make healthy choices and sick people make sick choices.

In 2009, I am committed to educating my patients and the people of our community to make healthy choices.

Treating the effects of poor lifestyle choices with drugs and surgery is asinine, ludicrous and a form of genocide. This is what we are doing as a society, however.

The TV is filled with examples of people drinking beer, eating chili dogs and sucking down french fries and then taking antacids to help their system cope. Is this a wise choice?

Each human being on this earth is an ecosystem.

Please give me one example of a situation in which human intervention into an ecosystem actually caused improvement. There isn’t one. It doesn’t exist.

Only two things cause sickness and disease and move us away from health: toxicity and deficiency.

If a plant is wilting, the first thing we ask is, “Does it need water?” So when a human is wilting (sick or diseased), why would we treat it differently than other parts of our ecosystem.

Humans are not dying because they don’t take enough medication or haven’t had enough surgery. Humans are dying because they are deficient and/or toxic. The body doesn’t make stupid choices; we do.

There is no such thing as pathology; only pathological environments. There is no such thing as a pathological medical condition; only adaptive physiology. We are not born sick. Our physiology is an expression of our environment (or in certain cases, our parent’s environment). Whenever there is a stressor to our body, we go through four stages: 1. Alarm 2. Attempt to adapt 3. Fatigue 4. Death

Eating pills is a lifestyle choice just like chiropractic is a lifestyle choice. The question becomes whether our choices are driving us toward homeostasis or away from it.

Chiropractic is not about treating symptoms and/or disease. Chiropractic wellness care is about driving the human being toward homeostasis; therefore chiropractic is an intelligent lifestyle choice.

Are the choices you are making today moving you closer to homeostasis or driving you away?

Chiropractic works 100% of the time because it is always moving the body toward homeostasis.

Isn’t it time to do something that is good for you? How long are willing to put your health off?

Your temple is on fire. Don’t blame the fire department for water damage. My challenge to you is to do something different in 2009. Quit fueling the fire of sickness and disease and start fueling the fire of health and wellness.

Chiropractic care isn’t just for people with pain. Chiropractic care is for everyone.

What Is the Toughest Obstacle You Face?

Your lack of belief in yourself will hold you back more than anything else.

Do you deserve to be prosperous?
Do you deserve to be healthy?
Do you deserve to have all the time you want?
Do you want to attract successful people?

Although on the outside you answer YES to all those questions. However, your self-talk in many cases answers NO.

Your biggest barrier to over come is within You. Your current vision of yourself won’t let you become successful.

What does your vision look like? (Your expectation, belief or mind set) How do you see yourself? More importantly, what’s your inner conversation? What are you telling yourself?

Whether you realize it or not, you have a vision. The question is, is it in alignment with your goals?

How do you know what your vision is? Your actions are always consistent with your visions. You are exactly where you envisioned being.

It is not a matter of getting a vision, it’s a matter of replacing the one you have with the one that propels you toward your goals.

Take some time now and write down your vision statement. This will be a work in progress but, start now and write down your prefect life.

“How to Earn $100,000+/Year Income From Your Home”

Does that sound too good to be true?

Some will say “yes” it is possible. Most will say “no” especially these days.

I’m here to tell you that it really is possible.

It is a lot of hard work but it is real. And speaking first hand, it sure was worth it for the quality of life I have today.

My goal here is to help those people in the industry and those who are looking to get into this industry.

You know what?

I currently have over 35,000 people on my team in 11 different countries. As far as the legendary part . . . I don’t know if I’ll ever get there. I do know that I love helping others to succeed. And teaching them to do the same.

That I guess is what I love about this industry.
